What boosting does to a server

Boosts are server-wide, so one boosted server improves for everyone in it at once. They raise voice-channel audio quality, unlock bigger file uploads at higher tiers, add an animated server icon and custom branding, expand your emoji and soundboard slots, and improve Go Live stream quality. Since 2025 you can also spend boosts directly on specific perks without reaching a full level — a Server Tag shown next to members' names across Discord (3 boosts), animated gradient role colours (3 boosts), themed server badge and tag packs (2 boosts), or a Server Theme in beta (3 boosts). Each boost is a monthly subscription, and the price is per boost.

What each level unlocks (2026)

Your server levels up automatically once it has enough boosts, and each level includes everything below it:

Good to know: bigger file uploads only start at Level 2 — Level 1 doesn't raise the upload limit (the free limit is 10 MB), so if huge attachments are your goal, aim for Level 2 or 3.

Why boosts are sold in even quantities

We sell boosts in even numbers only — 2, 4, 6, 8 and up. Two boosts reach Level 1. For Level 2 (which needs 5) choose 6; for Level 3 (which needs 7) choose 8. Buying even always meets or exceeds your target tier, and any spare boosts can go toward the direct-unlock perks above.

How many boosts do I need for each level?
Level 1 needs 2 boosts, Level 2 needs 5, and Level 3 needs 7. Since boosts are sold in even amounts, choose 2 for Level 1, 6 for Level 2, and 8 for Level 3.
Does Level 1 increase the file upload limit?
No. Bigger uploads start at Level 2 (50 MB) and Level 3 (100 MB); the free limit is 10 MB. Level 1 gives 100 emoji slots, 24 soundboard slots, an animated server icon and improved audio.
