How do you send a Nitro gift in Discord?
Two places. In User Settings → Nitro there is a Gift button: pick full Nitro or Nitro Basic, one month or one year, pay, and Discord gives you a discord.gift link to share anywhere. In a DM or channel, the gift icon next to the text box does the same and drops the link straight into the conversation. The gift is not tied to a username — it goes to whoever claims the link first while logged in, so send it privately.
What happens if the person already has Nitro?
The gift is not wasted. Discord converts it into Nitro credit — stored subscription time that is applied after their current period ends. Perks never stack, so two gifts do not mean 1,000 MB uploads or 4 boosts, but the months queue up. That is why buying Nitro ahead as a gift is safe, and why a Nitro Basic gift to a full-Nitro user still counts (as Basic credit).
What if the gift isn’t claimed?
A gift sent in chat that nobody claims within 48 hours returns to your gift inventory (User Settings → Nitro → Gift Inventory), where you can copy the link and send it again — it is not lost. Links are single-use: once claimed, they show as already redeemed. If a link claims to be from Discord but points anywhere other than discord.gift or discord.com/gifts, it is a phishing page, not a gift.
Is there a cheaper way to gift Nitro?
Yes — the same official gift link, bought below Discord’s list price.
