What does Telegram Premium unlock?
Premium roughly doubles your limits and adds premium-only tools:
- 4 GB file uploads (free is 2 GB) and faster, prioritised downloads.
- No ads — removes the sponsored messages in large public channels.
- Voice-to-text transcription for voice and video messages, plus real-time chat translation.
- Custom emoji, extra reactions, premium stickers, animated profile pictures, emoji statuses and a Premium badge next to your name.
- Join up to ~1,000 channels, 20 chat folders, 4 accounts, more pinned chats and a longer bio.
- Channel boosts (one subscription = 4 boosts), Telegram Business tools and extra Stories features.
Exact limits shift as Telegram raises them, but the headline is: double the room, no ads, and the power-user features.
Why is Telegram Premium cheaper as a gift than in the app?
Telegram itself says buying Premium inside the iPhone or Android app is the priciest way, because Apple and Google add roughly a 30% store fee. When Premium is delivered as an official gift (through Telegram's Fragment platform, the same system Telegram runs), that store fee is skipped — so the exact same Premium lands on your account for less. That's the whole trick: no cheaper 'version', just the same official subscription without the app-store markup.
The price structure Telegram itself describes: Premium is sold inside the iOS and Android apps through Apple's and Google's billing, on the web and desktop apps through Telegram's own checkout, and as gifts through Fragment, Telegram's official platform for Premium and usernames. Fragment sells Premium in 3, 6 and 12-month terms, and its per-month cost is the lowest of the three because there is no store fee and the longer terms are discounted. A gift bought there lands on the recipient's account through the same server-side path as an in-app purchase — the badge, the limits and the 'Premium' entry in Settings are identical.
How does gifting Premium to an @username work?
All we need is your public @username — nothing else. No password, no login code, no access to your account. The subscription is applied directly and officially to your real account by Telegram, and you get a notification when it lands (usually within minutes). Two things to know: you must have a public @username set in Telegram (Settings → Username), and gifts come in 3, 6 or 12 months — there's no 1-month gift (monthly only exists as the in-app subscription). Anyone who asks for your password or login code is not doing this the official way — never hand those over.
Is it safe, and does it auto-renew?
It's completely safe because it's the official gift pipe — the same one Telegram uses. Your account isn't touched beyond receiving the Premium. And because a gift has no card attached to it, nothing auto-charges you: it simply runs for its 3, 6 or 12 months and then ends, and you top up again whenever you want. You pay us by card or crypto, and delivery is fast.
Compare the three routes for a year of Premium: the in-app annual plan, Telegram's own web checkout, and a 12-month gift — the gift is the cheapest per month and the only one with no renewal, which is why it is also the safest to buy for someone else. The one thing to keep in mind is the @username requirement: without a public username the gift cannot be addressed, so set one in Settings → Username before ordering, and keep it unchanged until the delivery notification arrives.
