# Discord Server Boosts: How Many You Need for Each Level — and for a Server Tag

> The numbers are simple: Level 1 takes 2 boosts, Level 2 takes 7, Level 3 takes 14 — and a Server Tag next to members' names is a direct unlock at just 3 boosts, no level required. Boosts upgrade the whole server for every member: sharper voice, bigger uploads, animated branding and more. This guide breaks down every tier and direct-unlock perk at 2026 numbers, why boosts are bought in even quantities, and how boosting through SlayKeys works with nothing but your server's invite link.

## What does boosting actually do to a server?

Boosts are server-wide, so one boosted server improves for everyone in it at once. They raise voice-channel audio quality, unlock bigger file uploads at higher tiers, add an animated server icon and custom branding, expand your emoji and soundboard slots, and improve Go Live stream quality. Since 2025 you can also spend [boosts](https://slaykeys.com/en/discord-server-boost) directly on specific perks without reaching a full level — a [Server Tag](https://slaykeys.com/en/guides/discord-server-tags) shown next to members' names across Discord (3 boosts), animated gradient role colours (3 boosts), themed server badge and tag packs (2 boosts), or a Server Theme in beta (3 boosts). Each boost is a monthly subscription, and the price is per boost.

The practical effect is easiest to see in voice and files: a Level 1 server moves voice channels from the default 64 kbps up to 128 kbps, Level 2 lets every member attach files up to 50 MB instead of the free 10 MB, and Level 3 raises that to 100 MB and unlocks 384 kbps audio. Boosts are counted per server, not per member, and any member can contribute — which is why communities pool boosts and why buying them in bulk from one place is the cheapest way to hold a level.

## How many boosts for Level 1, 2 and 3 — and what does each unlock?

Your server levels up automatically once it has enough boosts, and each level includes everything below it:

| Level | Boosts | Emoji slots | Upload limit | Audio | Streaming | Extras |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| None | 0 | 50 | 10 MB | 64 kbps | 720p | — |
| Level 1 | 2 | 100 | 10 MB | 128 kbps | 720p | animated icon, 24 soundboard slots |
| Level 2 | 7 | 150 | 50 MB | 256 kbps | 1080p | server banner, role icons |
| Level 3 | 14 | 250 | 100 MB | 384 kbps | 1080p | vanity URL, animated banner |

Good to know: bigger file uploads only start at Level 2 — Level 1 doesn't raise the upload limit, so if huge attachments are your goal, aim for Level 2 or 3. Since 2026, boosts you dedicate to a specific perk (Server Tag, Enhanced Role Styles, Game Server Hosting) don't count toward these level totals — only undedicated boosts do. Perks are cumulative, and if the boost count later drops, the extra emoji and banner are kept hidden until the level is restored.

## How many boosts for a Server Tag?

Three. A Server Tag — the clan-style badge shown next to members' names across Discord — is a direct unlock at 3 boosts: you don't need to reach any level, the tag unlocks as soon as the server holds 3 active boosts and stays as long as they stay. The same direct-unlock system covers animated gradient role colours (3 boosts), themed badge and tag packs (2 boosts) and the beta Server Theme (3 boosts). Since we sell boosts in even quantities, take 4 — the 3 dedicated to the tag don't count toward your level, but the spare one does.

## Why are boosts sold in even quantities?

We sell boosts in even numbers only — 2, 4, 6, 8 and up. Two boosts reach Level 1. For Level 2 (which needs 7) choose 8; Level 3 needs exactly 14. Buying even always meets or exceeds your target tier, and any spare boosts can go toward the direct-unlock perks above.

The even-number rule exists because our supplier applies boosts in pairs from each boosting account (a Nitro account carries two boosts), so quantities come in twos. Rounding up never costs you a level: 8 boosts hold Level 2 with one to spare, and that spare boost is exactly what keeps the level safe if a single booster leaves before the month ends.

## How does boosting through SlayKeys work?

All we need is your server's invite link — nothing else. There is no login and no access to your account or server admin; the boosts are applied to the invite you provide. Delivery is almost instant. You pay in the SlayKeys Telegram bot by card or [crypto](https://slaykeys.com/en/guides/buy-with-crypto) — a lot cheaper than boosting the server yourself at Discord's $4.99-per-boost rate.

Practically: open [@slaykeys_bot](https://telegram.me/slaykeys_bot), pick Discord Server Boosts and the quantity, pay, and paste the invite link the bot asks for — a permanent invite is best so the booster accounts can join without an expiry. The boosts appear in Server Settings → Server Boost under the booster accounts' names within minutes, and the level updates on its own. Each boost lasts one month; reorder the same quantity before the date to keep the level continuous.

## Step by step

1. Decide the level you want: 2 boosts for Level 1, 6 for Level 2, 8 for Level 3.
2. Create an invite link for your server in Discord (make sure it doesn't expire soon).
3. Open the SlayKeys bot @slaykeys_bot, choose Discord Server Boost, and set an even quantity.
4. Paste your server invite link — that is the only thing we need from you.
5. Pay in the bot; the boosts are applied to your server almost instantly.

## FAQ

**How many boosts do I need for each level?**

Level 1 needs 2 boosts, Level 2 needs 7, and Level 3 needs 14. Since boosts are sold in even amounts, choose 2 for Level 1, 8 for Level 2, and 14 for Level 3. Boosts dedicated to a perk (like a Server Tag) don't count toward the level.

**Does Level 1 increase the file upload limit?**

No. Bigger uploads start at Level 2 (50 MB) and Level 3 (100 MB); the free limit is 10 MB. Level 1 gives 100 emoji slots, 24 soundboard slots, an animated server icon and improved audio.

**Why can I only buy even quantities?**

Boosts are sold in even numbers (2, 4, 6, 8 …). Two boosts already reach Level 1, and even amounts always meet or exceed each tier's requirement; any spare boosts can fund direct perks like a Server Tag or animated role colours.

**What do you need from me to boost a server?**

Only your server invite link. No login, no admin access, nothing else — the boosts are applied to the invite you send.

**How long does each boost last, and how fast is delivery?**

Each boost is a monthly subscription, and the price shown is per boost. Delivery is almost instant — once you've paid and provided the invite link, the boosts are applied right away.

**How many boosts does a server need for a Server Tag?**

3 boosts — it's a direct unlock, no level required. The tag stays as long as the server keeps 3 active boosts. Boosts are sold in even quantities, so order 4 and the spare counts toward Level 2.

**How many boosts for gradient role colours?**

Animated gradient role colours are a direct unlock at 3 boosts; themed badge and tag packs unlock at 2. Both apply server-wide for as long as the boosts stay active.
