# Discord Orbs and Quests Explained: How to Earn Orbs and What You Can Buy

> Orbs are Discord’s earned-only currency: you can’t buy them, you get them by completing Quests — sponsored tasks like playing a game for a while, watching a trailer or streaming to a friend. You spend Orbs in the Orbs tab of the Discord Shop on avatar decorations, profile effects and short stretches of Nitro. This guide covers how Quests work, how far Orbs actually go, and when it’s simpler to just gift the decoration you want.

## What are Discord Orbs?

Orbs are a virtual currency inside Discord that you earn rather than purchase. They arrived in 2025 as the reward side of Quests and live in your own Orbs balance. You spend them in the Orbs section of the [Discord Shop](https://slaykeys.com/en/discord-shop) on a rotating set of items: avatar decorations, profile effects, nameplates and small packs of Nitro time. There is no way to top up Orbs with money — Discord deliberately keeps them earn-only, so the only lever is how many Quests you complete.

## How do Discord Quests work?

A Quest is a sponsored task from a game or brand: play a specific game for a set number of minutes, watch a video, or stream the game to a friend for a while. You find them in the Quests hub (the Discover/Quests entry in the desktop and mobile apps) and each one shows its reward before you accept. Rewards are either Orbs or a direct item — an in-game cosmetic, a decoration or a few days of Nitro. Quests are time-limited and often region-limited, so the list you see differs by country and changes every couple of weeks. If you see no Quests at all, check that Quests are enabled under User Settings → Privacy & Safety.

## How many Orbs does a Quest pay, and what do items cost?

Most Orb Quests pay a few hundred Orbs, while most decorations in the Orbs shop cost well over a thousand — so a single decoration usually means several Quests over a few weeks, and the item you want may rotate out before you get there. Short Nitro packs (a few days of Nitro credit) are the cheapest useful spend. Treat Orbs as a bonus for games you were going to play anyway, not as a reliable way to collect a specific decoration.

## Is there a faster way to get the decoration you want?

Yes — have it gifted. The same official Shop decorations can be sent to your account as a gift, and that is what SlayKeys sells: you name the item, we send an official Discord gift link, you accept it on your own account and it is yours permanently. No password, no login. Prices start from $2.70 depending on the item, and it works for items that never appear in the Orbs shop. Orbs stay the free route; gifting is the route when you want a specific item now.

## Step by step

1. Open the Quests hub in Discord (Discover → Quests) and enable Quests in Privacy settings if the list is empty.
2. Accept a Quest and complete the task — play the game for the required minutes or watch the video inside Discord.
3. Claim the reward from the Quest card; Orbs are added to your balance immediately.
4. Open the Shop → Orbs tab and redeem a decoration, effect or Nitro pack — or gift the exact item via @slaykeys_bot if you don’t want to wait.

## FAQ

**Can I buy Orbs with money?**

No. Orbs are earned only, through Quests. Discord does not sell them.

**Do Orbs expire?**

Discord has not announced an expiry for Orbs, but Orb-shop items rotate, so the item you are saving for may leave the shop.

**Why don’t I see any Quests?**

Quests are region- and time-limited, and they can be turned off. Check User Settings → Privacy & Safety → Quests, then look again in the Quests hub.

**Can Orbs buy Nitro?**

Only short Nitro packs — a few days of Nitro credit. A full month of Nitro is a normal purchase or a gift.

**Can I get a specific decoration without Orbs?**

Yes — any giftable Shop item can be sent to your account as an official gift. That is what SlayKeys does, from $2.70.
